Chembeet

24 April 2018 by Margherita Leoni

Chembeet is an Era-Net project (European Research Area Network), with the goal to extract biofuel (bioethanol and biogas) and other green chemicals from sugar beet, by means of fermentation using direct processing. In this project ACRRES works with DSD, the University of Warmia & Mazury (Poland), and Van Antwerp Milieutechniek (Van Antwerp Environmental Engineering). The project focuses on three matters: 1) local production of ethanol and biogas from sugar beet, 2) various raw materials as an alternative to sugar beet to enable year round production, and 3) various microorganisms to produce different green chemicals, such as various acids.
