Largest battery in the Netherlands connected to test site WUR in Lelystad

26 November 2020 by Margherita Leoni

On Thursday the 26th of November the largest battery in the Netherlands was connected to the test center of Wageningen University & Research in Lelystad, right next to the Neushoorntocht wind farm. This was done by acting mayor Henry Meijdam and the President of the WUR Executive Board, Louise Fresco. The GIGA Rhino, a twelve megawatt lithium-ion battery, stores an annual amount of energy comparable to the total electricity consumption of approximately 5,000 households per year: a GIGA battery! https://giga-storage.com/project-giga-rhino/
